From the worn walls of the rehearsal room, five individuals have gathered to create something unique. The collective effort of those involved gave birth to the music group - "The Pressed." The group is an Alternative Indie-Folk band based in Oslo. It consists of members Vetle Nærø, David Løvås, Harald Frøyland, Kjetil Heibert, and Johannes August Jæger-Lian. Although the core of the project stems from Johannes's singer-songwriter background, they do not shy away from incorporating other musical elements.
Their music is inspired by the seasons,
with each of their songs usually
written or produced for a specific season.
Currently, they are working on four EPs,
each targeted towards a different season.
Their first EP "Aroma" was released
in August 2023.
“My thoughts quickly turn to bands like Beach House. It has a similar floating vibe; you also feel that it's a bit dreamy and pleasent. At the same time, there's a melancholy here that I really appreciate. It stirs up thoughts, and you start to drift away as you listen to it.” -
Following the recommendation of their single "Bone Picker" by P3 Urørt, members of The Pressed have diligently strived to craft innovative and uplifting compositions. Drawing artistic nourishment from like-minded artists such as Thomas Dybdahl, Grizzly Bear, and Parcels, The Pressed brings a distinctive innovation to the alternative folk genre. Their compositions blend elegance and rusticity, underscored by a subtle undertone of melancholy. "Aroma" represents a component of a tetralogy of EPs that will be unveiled sequentially in accordance with the seasons, where this work stands as the auditory companion to the slow days of summer.
Red Garage is the band’s second EP.
Inspiration is drawn from the late
winter days that lead into the fresh
and lively days of spring.
It focuses on a wide range of themes:
from depression, loneliness, and death,
to love, communion, and tranquility.
Red Garage is so far the biggest project The Pressed has ever worked on, and every song has been carefully crafted to fit different aspects of spring.
Through the use of various elements in their music, they hope to provide listeners with peace and presence. From autumnal melancholy to summer breezes, their music ranges from fluid and dreamy to clear and grounded. The Pressed aims to deliver an experience the listener won't forget.
